GTalk in Myanmar

If you have any friends and families in Myanmar whom you keep in touch with via electronic means, you might know that GTalk has recently become popular in Myanmar. Mainly because it’s one of the very very few messengers with voice chat function which are not being blocked in Myanmar. It was also claimed to have better voice quality than Skype.

If you would like to talk to your friends and families around the world without spending for those expensive international calls, here’s how to get onto Gtalk:

1. You need to have a gmail account in order to sign into Gtalk. If you do not have a Gmail account, shweDarling.com is happy to give you a gmail invite. Just leave a comment with your name and email address and we will get back to you.

2. Download Gtalk from the Google website at http://www.google.com/talk/ and install it on your computer.

3. Log into GTalk using your gmail username and password.

5. And start chatting!!

Apparently, it’s possible to use Myanmar font in GTalk but we haven’t succeeded yet.

    kyaw thu: An invite to open a gmail account has been sent to your yahoo email address. Please make sure to check your Bulk folder because gmail invites are usually sent to Bulk/Spam folders. Enjoy!

    Ms. Htike Htike Oo: We don’t know of any web gtalk, we will definitely let you know if/when we discovered any. There is an alternative to access Gmail, however. Have you check out Gmail Lite?

    Do u have Zawgyi font? you can type Myanmar font in G Talk,
    You need to change font setting in G talk main windows General Tab. Clip change font to Zawgyi and you can type Myanmar font and Eng font use Ctrl+Shift.
