Moderate quake hits Myanmar
A moderate earthquake shook central Myanmar on Sunday (October 8, 2006) and could be felt in parts of neighbouring Thailand, the Thai meteorological department said.

The 5.6 magnitude quake, which occurred at 4:17 am Thailand time, was centered in Myanmar’s Tanintharyi region and could be felt about 70 km away in the southern Thai province of Prachuap Khiri Khan.
There were no reports of injuries or damage. Prachuap Khiri Khan is 230 km south of Bangkok. (AP)
